Abstract

Integrated Child Development Services are the largest programme running in the rural areas of India. It covers children, pregnant women and lactating mothers. The study aimed to investigate the awareness among the beneficiaries about the supplementary nutrition provided under this programme. For this purpose two blocks of Kanpur Dehat namely, Shivrajpur and Chaubepur were selected, from each block two village Aganwadi centres were selected randomly. A sample of 108 respondents comprising of pregnant women (36), lactating mothers (36) and mothers of 3-6 years old children (36) were taken for the study. The findings indicate that most of the beneficiaries were aware about different supplementary nutrition programme facilities provided by Anganwadi centre in different category (Pregnant women, lactating mothers, 3 to 6 child rearing mothers). But the level of awareness of beneficiaries was not equal.

Abstract

The present study was conducted in 1^st and 6^th zones of Kanpur city of Uttar Pradesh during the year 2013-14. Eighty respondents of pre-primary school children from four schools of 5-6 years age group were randomly selected for this purpose. A scale of reading writing skills designed by Narendra Singh and self-prepared questionnaire were used to find out the effect of teaching learning materials on reading writing skills of the children. Vocabulary, visual perception, auditory discrimination and copying were the elements for measuring the reading writing skills. A major finding revealed that a positive significant relationship was found at 5 per cent level of significance between the three dimensions of reading writing skills (VPT, ADT, CT) and teaching learning materials.

Abstract

Globalization has brought sweeping changes in socio-economic-cultural realms in our society. One of the ways in which human beings are influenced by globalization is through technology, of which the internet has a wider reach than any other medium. The phenomenon of the internet has created 'virtual spaces' in which adolescents spend increasing amounts of time. This study on adolescent identity formation and internet usage was conducted on a random sample of 120 (60 respondents were boys and 60 were girls) adolescent from different technical institutes of Kanpur city. It was found that 90.83 per cent respondents use computer at home and maximum respondents were interested in facebook on internet, whereas, 78.33 per cent respondents give their opinion that internet give latest information, current affairs, latest update etc. and 71.66 per cent respondents give their opinion that internet increase their knowledge. The finding shows that 75.83 per cent respondents think that cyber and pornography increase higher rate of sexual aggression and greater risk of teenage pregnancy, 70 per cent respondents think that internet play an important role in their physical development, while 67.5 per cent of respondents stated that internet has a important in their identity formation, whereas, 66.66 per cent respondents think that internet create a platform of cyber bullying as well as 65 per cent of respondents satisfied with the present resources and opportunities.

Abstract

The word Aganwadi means "courtyard shelter" in Hindi. These centers were started by the Indian government in 1975 as part of the Integrated Child Development Services programme to combat child hunger and malnutrition. Aganwadi are India's primary tool against the scourges of child malnourishment, infant mortality and curbing preventable diseases such as polio. As the Aganwadi worker is the key person in the programme, her level of awareness regarding this project will definitely help in better outcomes, and development of the villages. Therefore, present study was under taken to find out the level of awareness of Aganwadi workers and it's relation to their back ground characteristics. For this purpose a total number of 120 AWWs was selected randomly from two blocks of district Faizabad they were interviewed with the help of self prepared interview schedule. Out of total AWWs maximum 64.2 per cent belonged to 36-50 years age group. Awareness regarding nutrition and health care maximum (97.5%) of AWWs were having complete knowledge about food item for a new born babies and followed by right age to introduce semi solid food (94.2%) result indicates that in all categories AWWS of 36-50 years age group had better knowledge, the awareness of AWWs was different, they were not equally aware. The positive correlation ship was found between the level of awareness and the educational status of AWWs. Thus it can be said that education helps in boots up the level of awareness.

Abstract

A person’s level of aspirations is an important aspect of his personality. AA fruitful approach to study of self-enhancement has been the concept of aspiration level. The purpose of this study was to find out and compare the level of aspiration (GDS, ADS, and NTRS) between the adolescents of working and non working mothers and to find out the effect of age, caste and income of the family on Various Scores of Level of aspiration (GDS, ADS and NTR). The study was conducted in the Faizabad of Uttar Pradesh. A sample comprised of 60 adolescent boys out of which 30 adolescents of working mothers and 30 adolescents of non- working mothers were selected through random cum purposive sampling. A standardized scale of level of aspiration developed by Dr. M.A. Bhargawa and Dr. M.A. Shah was used to collect the information. It was found that GDS and NTR of 17 years of boys was higher than 16 years, and boys of non-working mothers were having higher Mean values on goal discrepancy score and attainment discrepancy score in comparison to respondents of working mothers whereas respondents of working mothers were having high mean value of number of time the goal reach score in comparison to respondents of non-working mothers. Thus, it was concluded that the adolescents of non working mothers sets their goal higher than their actual performance ,where as the adolescents of working mothers reach to their target goal most of the time .
